Like Stalin, whose pictures used to illuminate the Moscow skies, like Saddam Hussein whose pictures wallpapered Iraq, and like Hafez and Bashar Assad whose pictures still deface Syria, the Lebanese were “graced” over the past day or two with humongous portraits of their Syrian-appointed Agent-President Emile Lahoud popping-up and defacing their beloved cites and towns. And like Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Ceausescu, and many others who were eventually denounced and tried by their people and whose pictures and statues were trampled and spat on, the puppet president Lahoud will one day soon have the “honor” of joining that list.

No matter how fear stricken the people were and how powerful and murderous the intelligence services were, no one could not stand in the way of the people once the international tide shifted and asserted its will. Their regimes fell down like houses of cards, their statues and portraits ended up in garbage dumps, and they entered the dustbins of history. Now is the turn of the Lebanese people with UN Resolution 1559.

Our message to our brothers and sisters in Lebanon is that the winds of change and freedom for Lebanon, which started with the passage of the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act, have now reached the point of no return with UN Resolution 1559 and the international consensus on restoring Lebanon’s sovereignty and freedom.

We ask all the Lebanese to seize this opportunity and peacefully stand up against the occupier and his Lebanese agents and puppets. We assure them that the whole world is behind them. Nothing is more important in this critical period of their history than to respond positively to the international initiative. The Lebanese have to tell the world, loudly, clearly, and persistently that they indeed want the Syrian occupation to end. Therefore they have to make their move and take a stand. They have to keep the focus on the source of the problem – the Syrian occupation – and not get detracted by its symptoms – the re-election of puppet Lahoud. We urge our brothers and sisters not to back down and continue their peaceful revolution because the time has come for the Syrian to leave, his puppets to answer to the people, and for Lebanon to regain sovereignty and freedom once and for all.
